Patricia June Chetian, 80, passed away peacefully at 12:24 a.m. on Thursday June 30, 2022 at the Victoria House after enduring a difficult journey with Alzheimer's. Patti, as she was affectionately known, was born on June 27, 1942 and raised in Cherry Valley, Ohio the daughter of Harrison and Margaret (Hamilton) Giddings.
Patti would later move to McDonald, Ohio where she raised her children. Patti attended Youngstown State University and earned a Bachelors Degree in Education. She had a special gift for those children that had special needs and guided many students throughout her teaching career. She retired in 2007 from the Windham Village School System. Patti loved golf and not only played but participated in many of the local LPGA tournaments when they were in Trumbull County. She was in charge of the caddies and loved every crazy hectic moment that the volunteer adventure brought. Prior to Alzheimer's consuming her life, she enjoyed flowers and learning square dancing. She loved to listen to music, playing her guitar and singing. Her faith, hope and love, was guided by her love for GOD and meeting HIM some day. We all know that Alzheimer's is a journey that affects the entire family. It is a tragedy that consumes those who suffer from the disease and those who care for them and watch their dreaded decline. It is a horrible long agonizing and painful journey for all of us who live it with our loved ones from the beginning to the end.
Patti is survived by three daughters, Brenda Chetian, Cris Raub, Tamara Bartels; granddaughter Lauren Bartels; sister, Winifred Vorse; brother, Richard (Patricia) Giddings and sister-in-law Mattie Giddings. She was preceded in death by two sons Michael and Charles; two brothers James and Roger; son-in-law Karl Raub and brother-in-law Clarence Vorse.
Private funeral services were held at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, Niles with the Rev. Paul Armitage from the North Mar Christian and Missionary Alliance Church officiating where she was an active member. Burial was in the Girard City Cemetery.
The family extends a heart felt thank you to Pastor Paul and the wonderful staff, past and present, at the Victoria House, Austintown.
