NILES - Paul F. Kovach, 87, passed away at 10:10 pm on Thursday March 27, 2014 at the Hospice House following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Niles on June 30, 1926 the son of John and Sophie (Lastic) Kovach.
He attended St. Stephen Elementary School and was a life time member of St. Stephen Church. A Veteran of World War II, he honorably served in the United State Navy. He retired from Aero Services where he worked as a Jet engine maintenance mechanic and later he was self employed in the same field. He was an avid reader with a special interest in the histories of the Civil War and World War I.
Paul is survived by his wife Marguerite (Carl) Kovach whom he married on April 3, 1948; two sons, Paul Martin "Marty" (Kathleen) Kovach of McDonald, Gregory Kovach of Niles; two grandchildren, Alexander Kovach, Gabrielle Kovach; sister, Dorothy Young of Niles; brother, George Kovach of Middlefield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Celeste Kovach; sister, Mary Curtis; and brother, John Kovach.
Calling Hours will be Monday, March 31, 2014 from 5 to 8 pm at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Stephen Church. Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery with military honors provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
