Richard L. Bower Jr., 64, passed away on Wednesday February 22, 2023. Richard was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 3, 1958 the son of Richard L. and Jeanne Edna (Porter) Bower Sr.

Richard was a 1976 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism from Hiram College. After 30 years, he retired as an assembly line team leader for the General Motors Company Lordstown Plant. He was a member of Saint Stephen Church and the UAW Local 1112. Richard was member, leader of meetings and sponsor to members of AA. He devoted time to help members through the AA process and towards recovery. Richard, following his father's footsteps, was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed golfing, fishing all the area lakes, boxing, and riding his motorcycle. He achieved Eagle Scout ranking from the Boy Scouts of America. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He participated in Niles football and baseball from a young age on through his high school years. Richard had a special love of music.

Richard is survived by his mother, Jeanne Edna Bower of Warren; two daughters, Mallory Louise (Justin) Murray of Cortland, Lauren Lee Bower and fiance Giovoni LeBrun of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; grandson, Gavin W. Murray; two sisters, Cindy (Michael) Green of Niles, Julie (Jay) Sylvester of Niles; nephew John Swinehart and nieces Sarah Greene, Christine and Hannah Sylvester. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Edna Porter, Lee and Louise Bower; father Richard Lee Bower Sr. and sister Christine Louise Bower.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Sr. and Richard Jr. will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Saint Stephen Church where family and friends may call one hour prior to the mass. Rev. John Madden will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Orwell Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzhemer's Association (www.alz.org)
