Robert O. Ward Sr.

Robert O. Ward Sr., 70, passed away peacefully at 4:43 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the St. Joseph Health Center following an extended illness with his family at his bedside.

Robert was born in Sutton, West Virginia on September 25, 1953 the son of Oran Eugene and Wanda Mae (Weese) Ward and came to the Niles area many years ago.

Robert was a 1971 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and retired on July 31, 1994 as a motor inspector from the Youngstown plant of the LTV Steel Company. He was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching western movies. He loved to cheer for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeye football teams.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years and high school sweetheart, Carolyn Boggs Ward whom he married July 22, 1972; daughter, Melissa (Scott) Fultz of Gilbert, Arizona; son, Robert (Katie) Ward Jr. of Girard; grandson, Robert "BE" Ward; two sisters, Connie (Tom) Allen of Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, Diane (Rick) Suttle of Canton, Michigan; brother, Michael Ward of Niles; many nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Oran and Wanda Ward; grandparents, A.I. and Rachael Ward, Oscar and Sarah Weese; father and mother in law, John and Jewel Boggs.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday February 12, 2024 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday February 13, 2024 at the funeral home where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Rev. Douglas Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
