McDONALD - Stephen J. Treharn, 70, passed away unexpectedly at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at the St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Stephen was born on May 10, 1951, in Warren, the son of Bernard T. and Mary E. Donahue Treharn and has lived in the Niles and McDonald area all his life.
Steve was a 1969 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. He was in the service station business for 45 years and retired in 2013 as the owner and operator of Steve's Service in McDonald for 20 years. He was the assistant fire chief for the McKinley Heights Fire Department and past president of the McKinley Heights Mutual Benefit Association. Steve was the past master of the William Farr Masonic Lodge and past president of the McDonald Lions Club. He served four years on the McDonald Council and started the McDonald Car Show.
Steve is survived by sister, Linda Grafton of Youngstown; brother, Gerald (Val) Lockhart of St. Louis, Miss.; many nieces and nephews; and very special friends, Harry and Elaine Brennor, who helped with care over the past several years.
Besides his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lockhart, and two sisters, Patricia Vanoverbeck and Karen Stanley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, at the Pineview Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with Deacon Frank Marino officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
