NILES - Thomas Louis Tedesco, 74, passed away at 4:32 p.m. on Tuesday January 19, 2021 at the Trumbull Regional Medical Center. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on January 8, 1947 the son of Andrew and Roselyn (Muche) Tedesco.
Tom was a 1964 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the distinguished Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Rifle Marksmanship Badge - Sharpshooter. Tom joined the Niles Police Department in 1969 and retired in 1994 as a detective in the department.
A true patriot, Tom was a life member of the Niles Amvets 106, Niles Army and Navy Garrison 252, VFW 2074 and the DAV Chapter 11. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Warren Council 4484, Army and Navy Garrison 422, the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association and Niles F.O.P #27. He was an Elvis fan and enjoyed cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tom is survived by his wife Thelma (Corso) Tedesco whom he married on April 4, 1970; daughter, Marci Lynne (Gary) Conti of Youngstown; son, James A. (Gina) Tedesco of Niles; five grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, Hannah, Dylan and Ava.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Thomas A. Tedesco who died February 7, 2012.
A Private Service of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Burial was in St. Stephen Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Lake Milton Post 737 and an escort provided by the Niles Police Department.
