Virgil Nicastro, 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 28, 2023 at the Trumbull Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bagnoli Irpino, Italy on October 8, 1946 the son of Domenico and Marianne (Gatta) Nicastro.
He was a 1965 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a 1970 graduate of YSU with a Bachelors of Arts degree. Virgil was a retired teacher, who taught Spanish and English at the Lakeview High School, followed by teaching at the Manpower training center in Cleveland. He retired in 1997 from the Juvenile Justice Center for Warren City Schools where he was affectionately known as "Mr. Nic". He was also a part time realtor and co-owner of Trini's Bar in Niles.
Virgil cherished family gatherings, Sunday pasta dinners and spending time with his grandchildren, Alexa and Dominic. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes, watching sports on tv, golfing, and playing pinochle & poker with his longtime childhood friends on Fridays.
Virgil is survived by his wife of 54 wonderful years Judith Ann (D'Andrea) Nicastro whom he married on July 5, 1969; three children, Victoria (Ed) Uberti of Hermitage, Pennsylvania, Dominic (Shannon) Nicastro of Girard, Roseanne Nicastro of Peninsula; two grandchildren Alexa and Dominic Mymo; two brothers, Thomas "Tumor" (Walleen) Nicastro of Niles, James (Esther) Nicastro of Howland; two sisters, Tina (Rich) Bzinak of Howland, Antoinette (Tom) Flynn of Niles; many cousins, nieces , nephews, and friends.
A Service of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service.
The family acknowledges the kind and compassionate care of the nurses and staff of S. Joseph Hospital and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital.
