NILES - Danny (Donato) J. DeChristofaro
Sr., 82, died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 2:25 am at
Autumn Hills Nursing Home following an extended illness.
He was born in Warren, Ohio on September 23, 1929
the son of Romollo and Anna (Campana) DeChristofaro.
Danny was a 1947 graduate of Niles McKinley High
School and a United States Army Veteran. He retired in 1997
after working 30 years for the State of Ohio Sales Tax Division,
Youngstown office. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
Church, American Legion Post 235 in Girard, Army and Navy Garrison
422 in McKinley Heights, VFW Post 419 in Girard, Warren Moose
Lodge, Girard Eagles where he served 25 years as an officer
and ITAM Organization of McKinley Heights. An avid
bowler at Kay Lanes and Green Bay Packers fan, he enjoyed golfing,
playing cards and going to horse races and casinos.
He is survived by his wife Shirley (McGlone
Criswell) DeChristofaro whom he married on December 21, 1985; son,
D.J. (Donato) DeChristofaro Jr. of Niles; three daughters, Judy
(Brett) Haughawout of Cleveland, Mary Ann (Danny) Nowacki of
Toledo, Lou Ann Kiger of Cleveland; step son, Ken Criswell of
Niles; five grandchildren, Matthew Nowacki, Bradley Nowacki, Nathan
Kiger, Elizabeth Kiger, Danielle LaPierre; brother, Romeo
DeChristofaro of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lucille
DeChristofaro.
Calling Hours will be Friday, November 25,2011
from 5 to 8 pm at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. The
funeral will be Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 am at the
funeral home with military honors provided by The Girard Veterans
Council Honor Guard. Burial will be in Niles City
Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of
the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44512 in his
memory.
