NILES - Evelyn J. Joseph, 89,
died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 10:00 am at her residence.
She was born in Niles on February 12, 1922 the
daughter of Gennaro and Virginia (Vecchi) Boccia and lived in this
community all her life.
A devoted housewife, she was a member of St.
Stephen Church, Niles Catholic Womens Club, Tops, Niles Democratic
Womens Club and a volunteer at Our Lady of Lebanon Shrine.
She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School, enjoyed cooking,
baking and for many years a poll worker on election day. She
was a prayer warrior, devoutly praying the rosary daily.
Evelyn had a special affection for her children
and all her grandchildren. The family has fond memories of
all the family holiday gatherings at her home throughout the
years.
Evelyn is survived by four children, Fred Joseph
of Niles, Jinny Joseph with whom she lived, Gloria (Curt) Anderson
of Florida, Edward (Sandy) Joseph of Warren; twelve grandchildren,
Robin, Fred, Eric, Chris, Anthony, Robert, Aaron, Ron, Curtis, Art,
Ashley and Briana; 22 great grandchildren; 4 great great
grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine Medovich of Niles, Mary
Stancher of Niles; two brothers, William (Linda) Boccia of Howland,
Michael Boccia of Niles; Step-mother, Nancy Boccia of
Niles and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward
Joseph whom she married on Jan. 14, 1941 and who died on March 31,
1980; three brothers, Ralph, Gene and Louis Boccia.
Calling Hours will be Friday, Dec. 2, 2011 from
10 to 11:45 am at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Mass of
Christian Burial will follow at noon at St. Stephen Church.
Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant. Burial will be
in Niles City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen
Tuition Angel Fund or Hospice of the Valley.
The Joseph family shares a special thank you to
Hospice of the Valley and for the compassionate care of their
nurses and aides.
