NILES - Harriet Ross Gifford, 95,
died Tuesday January 3, 2012 at 7:25 am at Shepherd of the Valley
Nursing Home following a long illness.
She was born in Mineral Ridge on May 2, 1916 the
daughter of Lewis H. and Christine (Hood) Seifert Sr. and lived in
this area all her life. A graduate of Mineral Ridge High
School, she worked for five years as a cafeteria server at the
General Motors Plant and was a bus driver for Fairhaven
School. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church.
Harriet is survived by three daughters, Janet
(Kirk) Wathen of Stuart, FL, Virginia (Bob) Callahan of Hobe Sound,
FL, Joan (Ralph) Stiles of Niles; five grandchildren, Kelly Stiles,
Kevin (Valerie) Stiles, Brian (LuAnn) Stiles, Tom (Jill) Gifford,
David Gifford; six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty
Walker of Arizona and Lois Russell of New York.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas
Franklin Gifford whom she married on Feb. 28, 1938 and who died on
July 6, 1981; son, Thomas William Gifford who died on May 6, 1979;
a grandchild; three sisters, Dorothy Bloomfield, Hazel Hoffman,
June Baer and a brother, Lewis Seifert Jr.
The Funeral will be Friday, January 6, 2012 at
11:00 am at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. Rev. John
Preusser will officiate. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shepherd
of the Valley Nursing Home, Niles.
