SEBRING - John Joseph Manley Sr., 82, of 800 South 15th Street, died at 7:45pm on Friday August 20, 2010 at the Crandall Medical Center.
He was born in Buffalo, NY on April 15, 1928 the only child to John Emmitt and Loretta Manley. He lived in Girard most of his life and moved to Sebring in 2004.
John retired in 1980 after working 33 years as a lineman in the coke plant at Republic Steel Company in Warren and retired in 1992 after working twelve years as the club house manager at Trumbull County Club. He was a member of St. Rose Church, Girard, St. Ann Church, Sebring, past president of the Ursuline High School Band Boosters, a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Girard, and a past Liberty Little League baseball coach. He enjoyed Notre Dame Football, golfing and cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Matthew (Barbara) Manley of North Benton, William Thomas of DeBary, FL; seven grandchildren, Meredith, Ryan, Brianne, Maura, Ella, Matthew, Maria; two great grandchildren, Cole and Aislinn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Rich) Manley whom he married on April 30, 1960 and who passed away on August 29, 2001and a son, John Joseph Manley Jr. who passed away on November 1, 1996.
Calling Hours will be Monday, August 23, 2010 from 5 to 7 pm at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, 126 West Park Avenue, Niles, OH 44446. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Ann's Church, 323 S. 15th Street, Sebring, OH 44672 where family and friends may also call from 9:30 am until 10:45 am. Rev. Thomas P. Dyer will be the celebrant. Burial will be at Kerr Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ursuline High School Scholarship Fund or the Copeland Oaks Memorial Fund.
