NILES - Marilyn Emily Swift, 84, of Niles, passed away on Monday August 30, 2010 at 1:55 pm at her residence with her family at her side.

She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 7, 1926 to Frank M. and Florence (Friedmann) Zeiser Sr. and moved to Niles as a child where she resided all her life.
 
A graduate of Niles McKinley High School, she attended Kent State University and received a bachelors of science degree in education from Youngstown State University.  For over 25 years she was an elementary school teacher for the Niles City Schools.   A member of St. Stephen Church, she enjoyed baking, reading, breakfast with her lifelong girlfriends and playing cards, especially beating everyone in 500 rummy.  An Ohio State fan, she cherished the time attending her grandchildrens' activities.
 
Marilyn is survived by two daughters, Betsy Swift of Columbus, Kathy Swift of Columbus; son, James (Heidi) Swift of Niles; four grandchildren, Erin Swift, Ryan Swift, Kyle Swift, Emily Swift; sister, Jeanne Mann of Cape Coral, FL; and her beloved dog, Holly.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Swift whom she married on November 24, 1949 and who passed away on February 23, 2005 and a brother Frank M. Zeiser Jr.
 
Calling hours will be Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 10:00 am to 11:45 am at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon at St. Stephen Church.  Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant.  Burial will be at Niles City Cemetery.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 5401 Ashley Circle, Suite E, Austintown, OH 44515.
