NILES - Robert Allan Skerratt, 70, of Niles, passed away at 6:25 am on Saturday May 1, 2010 at the Briarfield at the Ridge following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on February 7, 1940 to Herbert Verne and Mildred Irene (Fausnaught) Skerratt and lived in this community most of his life.
 
A Marine Corp Veteran, he retired in 2002 after  working 38 years as a heater at Copperweld Steel.  He was a member of St. Stephen Church and enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Mountaineer.  He was devoted in spending time with his grandchildren especially watching all their sporting activities.
 
Robert is survived by three daughters, Robin (John) Burnside of Southington, Rachelle DeVinney of Niles, Stephanie (Kenneth) Flanigan of Niles; six grandchildren, Kristen Eberhard, Tyler Keeley, Addison DeVinney, Kenny Flanigan, Braeden DeVinney, Emma Flanigan; three great grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, Nolan; brother, Herbert (Sandra) Skerratt Jr. of Liberty
 
He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Jean (Yurkus) Skerratt whom he married on September 23, 1961 and who passed away on January 14, 2004; son, Ricky Skerratt; Son In Law, Brett DeVinney; grandson, Robert Allison; sister, Judith Cline.
 
Calling Hours will be Monday, May 3, 2010 from 5 to 7 pm at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Stephen Church.  Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant.  Burial will be at Niles City Cemetery.  Military honors will be provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
